About 20 miles north of Dodge City, Kansas on US-283, just as you get to the Hodgeman County line, you see this unique signage advertising a bluegrass festival just two miles away. You survey the terrain, seeing all the way to the horizon with nary a tree in sight. Would I want to spend a weekend in a place like this? In the summer, no less? Yes! A mere two miles east of this sign, along the banks of Sawlog Creek, is Warner Grove, an oasis on the plains with more cooling shade than you could imagine.
